At intervals (usually 7 years) the Council conducts an appraisal of the village by means of questionnaires, which are sent to every household in the village. All residents are encouraged to complete them in order to build up a more accurate picture.

Some questions are simple profiling e.g. ages & genders, others ask for scores for certain functions or projects (e.g. rate Street Lighting from 1—5) and some are free format to allow residents to make particular comments.

The results are used to guide the Council’s priorities and judge the success (or not) of work carried out to address previous issues.

The 2009-10 full appraisal question format was approved at the November 2009 Council meeting and delivered to all households in January 2010.
