Footpaths, Bridleways and Footways
Footpaths and Bridleways are the rights of way (usually across private land) that run through the countryside between villages and other places. There are 16 footpaths and three bridleways in the parish. There is a link to the NCC interactive mapping site below.
The footpaths & bridleways are maintained by NCC Rights of Way Dept, who are advised by the local parish path warden, Cllr Mick Izzard, of any problems. All footpaths are waymarked either by a green signpost (sometimes called finger posts) or a white disk with an arrow.
You can e-mail comments about the footpaths to the parish path warden or alternately contact Allan Rigby, the Highways partnership Rights of Way Officer who covers this parish, on (01604) 883454 or (07500) 579311.
Footways (or pavements) are the paths on the sides of roads. These are maintained by NCC Highways dept.
Faults with footways and carriageways (roads) can be reported NCC on-line via their Street Doctor service or by phone on 0845 601 1113.

Update on the new footpaths & bridleways over the former airfield.
One footpath (Y20) in the south-east corner will remain closed until Bedfordshire CC add the “missing link” to Yelden back onto the definitive map.
